$120,000 goal for Hockey Night in Brantford on Aug. 13 at Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre

Slowly, but surely, information is being released for this event as it becomes available.

You can read about my experience last year here.

Of course, the two captains, Adam Henrique and Zac Dalpe will be in attendance. The list of players is now at 12 NHL current or retired players. Now, it appears that there will be three players participating from this years Stanley Cup Champs, the Los Angeles Kings. Checking the roster, the three players whose hometowns are the closest would be Kyle Clifford (Ayr), Jake Muzzin (Woodstock) and Tanner Pearson(Kitchener). A little further away but still fairly close are Jordan Nolan (St. Catherines) and Jeff Carter and Drew Doughty (London).  Muzzin and Clifford had the Cup in their hometowns when the Kings won in 2012. From the executive side, Nelson Emerson (Waterford) and John Stevens (Turkey Point) had the Cup in the area also. With newly minted HHOF Rob Blake (Simcoe) also in the mix, the Cup may be making a lot of appearances here this year. I'm all ready to support the United Way, watch some hockey and, of course, get some autographs from the participants. I'll be posting any additions to t he roster when they become available.

 I Can't wait.

Pittsburgh owned his rights briefly after acquiring him and Bobby Dollas from Edmonton for Josef Beranek. I guess each team had to lose one player with some kind of NHL experience to Nashville. This way they weren't really losing anybody from their projected roster. He was then traded on July 9th to the Dallas Stars for future considerations.

25 years ago 1989
Wayne, Janet and Paulina will be in town this Saturday as hosts of the Wayne Gretzky Celebrity Sports Classic. Athletes and entertainers will be coming to Brantford to play a charity softball game to raise money for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.
This was one of the major events I attended in the 80's to get autographs. I've recounted a few tales in various previous posts here on my blog.

This marks the start of another month of This Day in NHL History. For those new readers or anyone who missed the start, here's the story. On April 9th, I posted the first in this series. What I'm doing is trying to highlight an autographed card from my collection for that particular day. So far, I have not missed a day since then. I don't know how long I can go before I have nothing to show. By the time next April rolls around, it will be interesting to see what my total will be. Until then, hope everyone is enjoying seeing these.
