This Day in NHL History 1998 /Happy Canada Day

July 01

Previously on Canada Day

The following takes place between 4:00
pm  and 5:00 pm.

Today is Canada Day  (renamed in 1982 from Dominion Day) here well, in Canada. It celebrates the anniversary of the July 1, 1867 enactment of the Constitution Act1867(formerly the British North America Act 1867). Hard to keep my statutory holidays straight now with all these changes but that is today's history lesson.

And now, today's NHL history.

San Jose Sharks signed unrestricted free agent Gary Suter, who had been with Chicago.
