UPDATE Hockey Night in Brantford 2017

The Final Period. No shoot-out. No overtime. After 6 years and raising over $500,000 for charity, the plug has been pulled. The powers that be have decided this event has run its course. This was one local event to help the community and allow me to add to my autograph collection. When the event started, there were more NHL alumni playing. Lately, there was more local talent playing at various levels participating. Politicians too. Anyhow, I digress. I'm going to document my experience from yesterday at The Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre. Strangely, enough, it was the 29th anniversary of The Trade.

Program for the night with team rosters, bios and sponsors thanks.

Captain of Team White

Captain of Team Red

If I recall correctly, Team Red won 9-8.

I've already got a few autographs from Zac so I got this index card signed. He was signing between periods. Some kids came to get his signature but had no writing instrument. Zac asked if he could use my Sharpie. No problem was the  reply.

11/12 Panini Freshmen Jumbo #10. Adam was also signing between periods. He was kinf enough to ask if I wanted him to put the # 51 as depicted on the card. No problem was the reply.

16/17 Upper Deck YG #476. Brandon was signing after the game and used his black Sharpie. No problem.

91/92 Upper Deck #287. Ron asked me if I wanted it made out to anyone. So I gave him my name and he personalized one. No problem.

1984 Molson Cup Winner for the St. Catherines Saints. Bruce remarked that he has hair then. He was signing after a Q & A called Boudreau's Corner. He signed in blue on the darkest part on the right hand side. Looks better in person. I only saw him sign 4 and I got two. No problem.

And  the piece de resistance. They had  these posters that these four local boys signed. Adam eHenrique (Burford),  Zac Dalpe (Paris), Brandon Montour(Oshweken and Jake Dotchin(Glen Morris). The line-up for this signing after the game was not too bad.The line moved pretty swiftly. No problem.

So I won't be writing about my annual experience at Hockey Night in Brantford anymore.

PROBLEM

Well, let's have The Doors have the final word.

UPDATE

Hockey Night in Brantford's Facebook page had this photo posted of Boudreau's Corner. That's me in the corner, that's me in the spotlight (known as yellow shirt) with my bag of goodies---cards, posters,Sharpies. Publish my photo without permission. No problem.

Orange is the chrome refractor

Yeah, I'm mainly a hockey guy but I like to pick things up for my Blue Jays collection.

And, recently I had a chance to do just that.

Colby of Cardboard Collections was giving away some cards. There was one card that caught my eye.

2011 Topps Chrome Orange Refractor J.P. Arencibia  RC # 182

I've bought from him before and he sure knows how to package. Three cards in a penny sleeve, in a top loader, in a team bag and wrapped in a sheet of paper.

Now to find J.P.'s orange teammates..

JJ--Good Times

If you're of a certain vintage, this makes sense (or not--it does in my mind) Anyhow, this has nothing to do with this post.

Except for this return from an e-mail request. From J.J.

Signed business card from Jeremy Jacobs, owner of the Boston Bruins. Forbes ranks him as the 481st richest person in the world.

I'm guessing Marilyn is his assistant and prints off his e-mails. Again, I'm guessing she wrote Enjoy. And I'm hoping she didn't sign the card.

But, for free, a good way to expand my hockey autograph collection.

Rackrs

Good evening, fellow bloggers and readers. It's been a while since I've posted. A lot of my time is taken up with the cat rescue my wife and I run. But I still spend late nights reading blogs and Facebook groups I'm in still. Just want to send a shout out to Jessica and Ruben at rackrs

No, not these kind.

This one.

The site has an autograph reference guide and a free buy and sell marketplace. They also have a store where they sell blank autograph cards. I recently had a chance to try out a prototype of a collectors cut card. I don't have a lot of baseball index cards so I used hockey instead.

With the handy template provided, I cut my Bob Goldham index card and made it into this.

Here's the back where you can put pertinent information.

And I was impressed with the packaging. Card put into plastic sleeve, into top loader, into team bag in padded envelope with cardboard insert. Sent May 12 and received here in Canada on May 24.

Check them out. You may find something that interests you.

National Hockey Card Day (belatedly)

Hello loyal readers, the few that I have left. You've probably noticed that my posting has been nearly negligible. In Novemnber 2016, my wife and I received our status as a NFP Incorporation. You can find out more hereHearts to Homes Feline Rescue and Sanctuary.

We had been doing this for a year but on our own. This is almost like another fulltime job and keeps me pretty busy. But thats not what you're here for. Saturday February 18 2017 was the annual NHCD here in Canada. I was occupied and couldn't get away in time to my LCS. However, my daughter was staying with us that day so I had her go to Toys R Us and see if she could pick me up the card sheets that were available. She was able to pick up these.

I'm not aware of how many different sheets there are but the complete 15 card set can be found on the first 4 sheets pictured.
She looked at the checklist but couldn't find CAN-16, CAN-CM, CAN-KC or CAN-ON. She felt kind of bummed out about that. She felt a lot lot better when I explained they weren't available on the sheets.

I'm still collecting and reading all my favourite blogs.

And miraculousy, I'll have another post in the next day or two.
